MD-Sen: “Republicans Anonymous” Steele campaigns as a Democrat!
Interesting sign, huh?
The depths to which this years’ “Republicans Anonymous” will stoop to try to confuse voters about their GOP affiliation just never cease to amaze me.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Maryland GOP Senate candidate Michael Steele has come out with new election signs that say “Steele Democrat.” His camp says that the intent of the sign is to represent Democrats who will vote for Steele, something akin to saying a “Reagan Democrat.”
The misleading intent of the signs is clear: Steele wants people who don’t follow politics much to believe that Steele is actually a Democrat.
That’s shameful, not just for Steele but for the GOP itself. Is it really so cowardly in the headlights of a possible electoral trainwreck in November that it has to paint itself with blue stripes?

Mark:
I was listening to one of the Sunday morning call-in radio shows, and a very well spoken, seemingly well-read african american gentlemen called about the Steele vs Cardin race, and the host had to tell him that Steele was the Republican.
I’m not sure what’s worse, the misleading campaign sign or the tacit racism that assumes a black candidate is going to be a democrat.

That’s sad, but shows how effective this misinformation campaign is in a state that has a very large African American population. Most people don’t follow politics day to day, and this kind of garbage preys on that lack of information.

Isn’t it also obvious that the republican party, made up of like 95% old white people, are simply using this man (of course he doesn’t mind the extra pay) to be their “trophy piece”. 2 out of the 5 who were nominated to get the position were black. I am not saying that they are not qualified, but considering that black people make up like less than 5% of their party, isn’t it obvious that this party still just does not “get it”. It is a slap in the face of blacks and whites alike. Are they trying to appeal to ignorant morons or what? Not to mention that this guys original plan was to become a priest. Doesn’t sound like much change when the most socially conservative group in history elects the biggest religious nut-job of the bunch. I am beginning to believe that republicans have no clue at all. Unfortunately, these are the narrow minded morons that make decisions for our country.

Will put it in very plain terms.
January 31, 2009, 8:03 pmDemocrats made it with Obama hence republicans figure they stand a chance with Steele. That is what all this boils down to. Pretty simplistic, pretty clear.
