Obama/Biden
I had a feeling it would be Biden….and I think Obama just won the election. Or at least, he has his best chance possible. Biden:
–is not the progressive grass roots’ first choice, but exactly what Obama needed as he is one of the most experienced voices in foreign policy in the Democratic Party and fills in on an area of perceived weakness for Obama;
–is popular with senior citizens, a problem constituency for Obama;
–has hard-knuckled blue collar roots from Scranton, PA, his father was a boiler-cleaner;
–has a talent for aggressive directness and is the exactly the attack dog Obama needs to counter McCain’s attacks while allowing Obama to keep some of the high road;
–is one who even thoughtful conservatives like David Brooks agree was the best possible choice.
He’s not perfect–he sometimes talks too much, has said some racially insensitive things, and there was a plagiarism kerfluffle back in the 80’s. But I agree with Brooks that these are superficial issues, and that voters will see beyond that to the many talents this man brings to the ticket.
Go Obama/Biden ‘08!
PS: I really hope McCain picks Romney. Biden will slaughter him in the VP debate.

Mike Licht:
Biden’s VP candidacy demonstrates the value of persistence. As Woody Allen said, “Eighty percent of success is showing up.”
Now if all factions can get behind the ticket without anyone referring to “Hillary’s Harpies.”
